ARTIST STATEMENT for KEN COON
Like many artists I have experimented with many different styles and techniques. I have worked in genres of realism, abstraction, neo expressionism and impressionism. However, I always seem to return to my roots of realism inspired by such artists as Andrew Wyeth, Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer and Charles Burchfield. This show features many paintings that I have done over the past decade or two. Many have been exhibited at national and regional venues such as The Butler Museum of American Art National Midyear Show, The Erie Art Museum Spring Show and the Ohio State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition at the Cox Fine Arts Center and other museums and venues. A few are making their public debuts. I hope that you enjoy my work of objects, places and persons that have inspired me in some way to record them in an aesthetic fashion. I wanted to show a variety of works in the four different paint mediums that I use depicting slight variations in technique using egg tempera, acrylic, watercolor and oils. |
