About the instructor, JOHN BRANTINGHAM
|
Ekphrasis, work written about or in reaction to the visual arts, is an old form that has gained popularity in the last ten years or so.
In Ekphrastic Prose and Poetry with John Brantingham, you will write poetry and prose about Adam Cooley’s exhbition Boro Land, Layered Worlds. In three sessions, you will learn how to develop work and understand art at a different level. We will be working with prose poetry, formal poetry, and free verse along with short stories, vignettes, and nonfiction. You will develop about 10 pieces while gaining the tools to go on and work on your own. The class will culminate in a discussion of revision and publishing, and we'll invite friends and family for a mini reception and (optional) public reading of our work. |
* Free for High school students
