MODULE 1 July 1, 2, and 3 - 5:30 to 8 pm
Charcoal and graphite. Establish value (lights and darks) in a drawing to create emotion through light, shape, form and space MODULE 2 July 8, 9, 10, and 11 - 5:30 to 8 pm Chalk and pastels. Understand the fundamentals of color as an expressive force, principles of color unity and schemes. MODULE 3 July 15, 17, 18, and 19 - 5:30 to 8 pm Portraiture and the human body drawing. Don't let this one intimidate you. By learning the natural structure of the head and human body, you will learn to draw with likenesses, and even create a drawing that tells a story. We will use techniques from modules 1 and 2 to create unique art pieces. MODULE 4 July 22, 23, 24 and 25- 5:30 to 8 pm Abstraction of your subject and media of choice. Modes of drawing can be carried out in a variety of ways, depend on an artist’s approach and sensibility to style and expression. While originally derived from reality, abstract drawing departs from the external appearance of the subject, simplifying, distorting, or exaggerating its appearance. Students will use acquired techniques from the first three modules as they work in abstraction. AUGUST 3 Special exhibition of student works |
